AIRC and AIFS reveal scholarship for UK students

The Cyril Taylor Scholarships – backed by The Cyril Taylor Charitable Foundation and administered by the American International Recruitment Council – will fund academic-year, full semester, and summer scholarships.

Students enrolling in programs at AIRC member institutions in the summer of 2023, the 2023 fall semester and the 2023/24 academic year will be the first cohort eligible to apply.

“We are delighted that, with the help of our friends at AIRC, The Cyril Taylor Charitable Foundation will advance the legacy of Sir Cyril, continuing his lifelong commitment to building connections across cultures and boundaries one student at time,” said William L. Gertz, trustee of the Cyril Taylor Charitable Foundation and chairman of the American Institute For Foreign Study.

Sir Cyril helped found cultural and academic exchange organisation AIFS in 1964 and dedicated his life to providing opportunities for young people.

He was appointed Knight Bachelor in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 1989 for services to education and later Knight Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (GBE) in the 2004 New Year’s Honours list.

“This scholarship program will make it possible for deserving students from the UK to study in the US”

“We are thrilled to partner with The Cyril Taylor Charitable Foundation to help realise the vision of Sir Cyril Taylor,” said AIRC executive director Brian Whalen.

“This scholarship program will make it possible for deserving students from the UK to study in the US at AIRC member institutions, providing the students with outstanding educational opportunities that have the potential to transform their lives,” he added.

AIRC member institutions will apply for the scholarship funds that they will then award to students whom they have recruited for their programs.
