The PMAY scheme mainly targets the economically weaker sections (EWS), lower-income groups (LIG), and middle-income groups (MIG) in both urban and rural areas. The scheme was launched by Centre in 2015 to provide affordable housing in both rural and urban areas.
This programme aims to focus on urban areas in India, including 4,331 towns and cities.
